‘Para Bellum’ es el decimocuarto álbum de estudio de
Testament, lanzado el 10 de octubre de 2025 vía Nuclear Blast. Este trabajo
marca la primera colaboración en estudio con Chris Dovas como baterista,
reemplazando a Gene Hoglan. También se destaca la producción a cargo de Juan
Urteaga, con mezcla y masterización de Jens Bogren y Tony Lindgren en los Fascination
Street Studios.
El título ‘Para Bellum’ alude al latín "Si vis pacem,
para bellum" (“Si quieres paz, prepárate para la guerra”), un lema que
parece reflejar muy bien el tono que atraviesa el álbum: agresivo, oscuro,
reflexivo respecto a las tensiones contemporáneas.
Testament va más allá de simplemente afilar sus riffs; ‘Para
Bellum’ mezcla su Thrash clásico con influencias más extremas como el Death Metal,
los blast beats y atmósferas densas. La
producción es clara, moderna, potente, pero mantiene también cierta organicidad
que evita que suene demasiado pulido. El
álbum tiene 10 pistas que suman alrededor de 50 minutos de duración.

‘Para
Bellum’, Testament’s fourteenth studio album, was released on October 10, 2025,
via Nuclear Blast. This record marks the studio debut of Chris Dovas on drums,
stepping in after Gene Hoglan’s departure. The album was produced by Juan
Urteaga and mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren and Tony Lindgren at Fascination
Street Studios.
The title, ‘Para
Bellum’—from the Latin phrase “Si vis pacem, para bellum” (“If you want peace,
prepare for war”)—perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the album: aggressive,
dark, and deeply reflective of modern global tensions.
Rather than
merely sharpening their thrash roots, Testament expands their sonic range on
Para Bellum, blending classic Bay Area aggression with elements of death metal,
blackened textures, blast beats, and dense atmospheres. The production is
crisp, modern, and heavy, yet maintains a raw organic feel that keeps the
band’s trademark energy intact. The album features 10 tracks running for about
50 minutes, showcasing both technical precision and emotional weight.
