Descent marca un nuevo capítulo en la carrera de Immolation, una banda que, tras más de tres décadas, sigue redefiniendo los límites del Death Metal. Lejos de conformarse con repetir fórmulas, este lanzamiento profundiza en una propuesta aún más oscura, densa y conceptual, reafirmando su lugar como uno de los pilares más consistentes del género.
El título del álbum sugiere una caída —no solo física, sino también espiritual y existencial—, una idea que atraviesa toda la obra tanto en lo lírico como en lo sonoro.
En Descent, Immolation apuesta por una atmósfera opresiva y técnica, donde los riffs disonantes y las estructuras poco convencionales dominan la experiencia. La producción es nítida pero sofocante, permitiendo que cada instrumento respire sin perder la sensación de caos controlado.
El álbum equilibra brutalidad con precisión: hay pasajes de velocidad implacable, pero también momentos más lentos y pesados que construyen tensión de manera casi ritual. La batería destaca por su complejidad y cambios constantes, mientras que las guitarras crean un paisaje sonoro inquietante y casi claustrofóbico.

Descent marks another powerful chapter in Immolation’s career—a band that, after more than three decades, continues to redefine the boundaries of death metal. Rather than relying on repetition, this release dives deeper into a darker, denser, and more conceptual approach, reinforcing their status as one of the genre’s most consistent and uncompromising acts.
The album’s title suggests a fall—not only physical, but also spiritual and existential—a theme that runs through both its lyrical content and sonic identity.
On Descent, Immolation leans into an oppressive and highly technical sound, driven by dissonant riffs and unconventional song structures. The production is clear yet suffocating, allowing each instrument to stand out while maintaining a sense of controlled chaos.
The album balances sheer brutality with precision: relentless fast sections collide with slower, crushing passages that build tension in an almost ritualistic way. The drumming stands out for its complexity and constant shifts, while the guitars craft an unsettling, claustrophobic atmosphere.
